problems oh problems
how irritating and troublesome
gossips and rumours and talks
scary how truth distorts

sometimes we should just let go
let things flow
sit back and see it as a show
forget the sorrows and the woes
chill.
and really,

just let it go.

Sit down and think about it. When was the last time you told someone you were busy? An hour ago when you had to push away that lunch appointment? Yesterday when a friend asked you out for coffee? Chances are, you've most probably said it at least once within the last three days to someone, when you really weren't that busy.

Now some of us are really caught up with the pressures of work or school but then again someone once said, it's all in the time-management. But my gripe here has more to do with people who throw the word 'busy' to make themselves less available to people, thus creating the illusion that they are somehow, well, very occupied with important things. I guess here in Singapore, being busy equates to being successful and wanted.

So it boils down to self-worth. Some of us are so caught up with being this well-heeled cosmopolitan that has a schedule only a robot could maintain, that we lose what matters most, the people around us.

We limit ourselves, or for that matter, our time and availability, to make us seem more desirable and important, when actually it has more to do with insincerity or the inability to say 'No'.

I once typed an email that asked for a group's vote on a restaurant for our reunion. I listed out the answers to all the possible questions that they could ask, like the location, the average cost, the ambiance and even an attached map, but I ended up calling most of them to confirm their vote. The reason for their non-reply? Because they were 'busy'. The funny thing is, most of them actually read the mail, but was too 'busy' to spend another 2 extra minutes to type in their choice.

When I confronted one of them, he said that, 'I'm not like you guys. I'm not in front of the computer all the time!' Maybe he would like to rethink it the next time he opts to leave his MSN on the whole day, because I'm sorry but in my part of the world, being online seems to indicate you are at the computer.

There was another that kept saying that he was too busy to have a cuppa, either in the morning, tea-time, or at night. But ask him the premise of any recently-released movie and he'll be able to tell you anything you will need to know. Coffee break - 30 mins. Movie - 2 hours. Illogical friend - priceless!

When was the last time someone proclaimed, 'Wah! You very free hor?' After which you scrambled to come up with a valid reason why you had free time. What's the matter with having some free time and indulging in some personal 'you' time? Isn't free time for you to be free? Why try so frantically to fill it up with something?

I guess I can't blame them in a way. In Singapore, you'd better be doing something worthwhile with your time or you'll be labeled a failure or a 'loser'. Heaven forbid you are free enough to catch up with a friend over coffee for an hour... you should be slogging your life away and contributing to the world's most efficient nation! What's that? How dare you say that you're very free! Don't you know how that makes you appear to others?!

Your Birthdate: August 21
Being born on the 21st day of the month (3 energy) is likely to add a good bit of vitality to your life.
The energy of 3 allows you bounce back rapidly from setbacks, physical or mental.
There is a restlessness in your nature, but you seem to be able to portray an easygoing, "couldn't care less" attitude.

You have a natural ability to express yourself in public, and you always make a very good impression.
Good with words, you excel in writing, speaking, and possibly singing.
You are energetic and always a good conversationalist.

You have a keen imagination, but you tend to scatter your energies and become involved with too may superficial matters.
Your mind is practical and rational despite this tendency to jump about.
You are affectionate and loving, but very sensitive.
You are subject to rapid ups and downs.

What Does Your Birth Date Mean?
